The Improbability of Love - Hannah Rothschild

This book is about a painting named "The Improbability of Love" and in some chapters the painting itself is a POV character. The painting is kind of fun and I had to smile at its attitude towards children:

There was no art to keep me company. At least there were no signs of a child; I cannot abide children. Once the dauphin, that miserable son and heir of Louis XIV, a pudding of a child, a flat-fooded numbskull, had a tantrum and threw a ball at moi! As far as I´m concerned, children should neither be seen nor heard.
