Another successful reading month. I finished four books:
Best book of the month: Revolutionary Road. A rollercoaster of a book with two unlikeable, selfish main characters and yet you cannot help but feeling empathy for both of them. A devastating and gutwrenching novel. Pure perfection and I absolutely loved it.
The book, which caused a minor reading slump: White Oleander. A harrowing read. Astrid´s story of her life in foster care and her struggle with her overbearing mother, who tries to control her life even though she is in jail, is a devastating and sad one. The only small problem I had with this book is the flowery prose, which I´m personally not a fan of (but I got used to it after a couple of chapters).
The mediocre read of the month: The Improbabilty of Love. This book is not a bad one, but it´s nothing special either. There are some things that I enjoyed about this novel, first and foremost the chapters told through the perspective of the painting. Another aspect that I enjoyed were the insights to the art world and the mentioning of a various amount of different paintings. But there are a lot of characters and everyone of them gets a background story, so I simply lost interest along the way. And the ending has been utterly forgettable and flat.
The Little Stranger: I enjoyed this book, but I haven´t been completely satisfied with it. I wrote a separate review, which you can find here
I finished six graphic novels, which I enjoyed very much:
And these are the books that I´m planning to read next:
Happy reading everyone :).
