Review

This is one great audio book. The narrator R.C. Bray manages to bring all the characters to live, especially the sarcastic personality of Mark Watney (who will always be one of my favorite characters of all time). I had to giggle a lot while listening to this book. (Note: I´m not going to be nitpicky about R.C. Brays horrible German accent).
However, the audiobook version showed me that this book is not without its flaws. I read the book about two years ago and I absolutely loved it. It´s been a five star read for me. After having listened to it, I´m changing my rating to a solid 4-star read. The reasons are:
- The "he said-she said-he said-she said" narrative, whenever more than one character is involved in a scene, is downrigth annoying while listening to it. It just took me completely out of the story.
- There are too many scientific explanations throughout the book. Whenever Mark needs to do something, it is explained down to the tini tiniest detail. I don´t mind this to a certain extent, but it simply got to much towards the end. And once again, it bothered me more while listening to it.
It´s not flawless, but I enjoyed the audio book very much.
