Endless Night - Agatha Christie

I have finished book one and so far not a whole lot has happened besides learning about the narrators work ethics, his desire to own expensive things (even though he is incedibly poor) and his meet-cute with Ellie, who is, lo and behold

an heiress and the richest girl in America. Mike is one lucky guy.

(show spoiler)

The story is told in retrospect by the main character Mike himself and in the beginning he comes across as a fairly sympathetic character. But there is something fishy about him. Is his encounter with Ellie a mere coincidence? What is up with Greta, Ellie´s companion? Mike hasn´t even met her yet and he has already a clearcut opinion of her and is unjustifiably jealous. And since Mike is telling all of this himself, he might not exactly tell the truth to the reader. I wonder what is going to happen next.

And it is always a good idea to dismiss the warnings of an elderly gipsy who advices to stay the hell away from a certain place twice. I´m not a superstitious person, but even I wouldn´t have bought that house after hearing those warnings.
