I just found this on a blog post about the movie and it made me giggle:
"If your daughter plays the piano, tap dances, and loses a penmanship competition ... lock her away, now."
Especially since my thoughts went along these lines while reading the novel: What would I do if I would be the mother of a child like Rhoda?
... I would lock her in the basement. Chilling child, indeed.
