The single vulgar German word was like a blow in the face. It has perhaps no equal in its gross finality. What he said was rubbish, but no other language has such a rude therm for it.

 

I guess he means "Quatsch!", a word which I occasionally use myself. Simply because it means "Nonsense!". Nothing vulgar about that, right?
