The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - Taylor Jenkins Reid

I should have learned by now to stay away from hyped books. This is another one that doesn´t work for me at all. It´s so boring and predictable. That´s what we got so far:

  1. Evelyn has made her way from Hells Kitchen to Hollywood by sleeping with a bunch of men. She is still a teenager while doing that, but she is A-Okay with it.
  2. Her best friend is a man, who hasn´t looked at her chest once. Of course, he is gay.
  3. She marries an abusive man, who cannot deal with the fact that she is more famous than him.
  4. She becomes friends with another actress, who is secretly in love with Evelyn. This begs the question, why two women in books cannot be friends only because they like each other on a platonic basis? Why does it always have to be either "falling in love" or "hating each others guts"?
(show spoiler)

Sigh, maybe I´m just too nitpicky. I don´t know.
