I appreciate so much that Pat Barker doesn´t romanticise the story. It is dark, it is gritty, the hygiene is pretty much non-existent and Briseis is nothing more than a casualty of war, condemned to be Achilles bed-slave. And now the big stand off between Achilles and Agamemnon has happened and this doesn´t bode well for Briseis.
It´s an excellent read so far.
