The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas, Robin Buss

I just want to protect Edmond from these vile people. He is such a nice guy, he doesn´t deserve this.

 

And I love how the historical context of the novel plays a major part in the setup of the scheme against Edmond. And I can´t decide which of the vile characters is the most evil one.

 

Although, there is something about Villefort condemning Dantes to his fate that is particularly horrible, vile and downright evil.
