This is my sixth Miss Silver novel that I have read so far and this one isn´t one of the worst, but not one of the best either.
The mystery was a pretty straightforward one and I honestly wished that Miss Silver would have played a larger part in the story. But I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of the novel and there were some really gripping scenes with Hillary, our main character.
As for the characters: I liked Hillary and following her thoughts was really fun. And I loved the little, poetic imp she had inside of herself.
Her love interest, though ... Honestly, everytime I thought Henry´s character would take a turn for the better, he instantly turned back into a caveman on the very next page. Thus my last word of advice for Hillary: If he is pulling a caveman on you, go get the frying pan, girl!
Anyhow, it´s been the perfect book for a comforting buddy read and the best way to spend a weekend in self isolation.
