The Monogram Murders - Sophie Hannah

Thank god, I´m almost done with this book. Because this is bad.

I just had to suffer through two chapters of an "Atonement"-like story told by one of the characters. A story, which is so contrived, it must be a lie. And yet, Catchpool, Scotland yard inspector extraordinaire, believes this BS.

However, I have a theory about this book and if this theory comes true, I will be slightly annoyed ... to put it mildly:

Catchpool is an unreliable narrator and in the vain of "The Murder of Roger Akroyd", he is the killer. Brought to the reader by a big twist towards the end.

Or something equally as ridiculous is about to happen. There must be a reason why we have to suffer through a POV of a guy, who apparently has an IQ of 50.

(show spoiler)

Anyway, I´m thinking of picking up Christie´s "Passenger to Frankfurt" up after this one, just to see if one of Christie´s worst books is still better than this one. Probably not, but it would be interesting to find out.
